It’s wonderful to go back to a one-handed device.

I do like the new paperwhite and i'd love to have it as my secondary device instead of the previous pw, but there's absolutely no way that i personally would switch my oasis to the new pw. I have a paperwhite too and it's just so much more limited when it comes to reading in bed lol, i end up just accidentally turning page all the time.ītw, skins reduce the "cold metal feeling" so that's a non-issue as well. I much prefer the oasis and its buttons because i read in bed and like to switch positions a lot and also and read on my side with just one hand, so being able to disable touch screen and only use buttons to turn the page is absolutely crucial for my comfort when reading. This is how it's always been with kindles.? you don't have to reach mid-screen with any kindle. There’s really no need for page turn buttons since the touch zones are intuitively designed to let you tap to the next page without even reaching mid-screen with your thumb. Reversing the stock Kindle case breaks that. Just wish I could find a good left-handed (hinged on right) Paperwhite cover that keeps the magnetic on-off function. Maybe that's when the 10th-gen goes back. I will be watching for the next Oasis update, as I do like the page turn buttons, so we'll see what the next version brings. I don't feel a chill in my fingers anymore when picking it up.
#Amazon kindle oasis vs paperwhite skin#
I have an aluminium MacBook Air that I added a skin to for scratch protection, and the material used (3M vinyl) is quite effective at insulating the metal casing from my hands. The Oasis metal body does feel cold, but cases help as do skins. Same form factor as the Paperwhite but add haptic touch-sensitive page turn buttons.įor now, though, I personally find the balance of the Paperwhite to be much better in my hands and I prefer the aspect ratio of the Paperwhite's screen a little bit over the Oasis screen. Keep waterproofing, wireless charging, and warm lighting, and it'd be perfect. That said, I'd love to see the Oasis in two sizes in the future: one smaller like the first Oasis, one larger like the current. I wasn't sure how well the touch screen would work for me, but so far so good. I'm holding onto my 10th-gen (Oasis 3) and sent the 9th back as a tradein on the new Paperwhite. You may or may not receive a reason.Ī complete and up to date list of rules is available on the new Reddit viewįor me, the 2nd/3rd gen Oases are a little too big (I have hands small enough to wear a child's Large glove size).
